Edgewood, located in beautiful Nanaimo, BC, on the traditional and unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, is an internationally renowned, accredited and licensed private residential treatment facility. Edgewood specializes in treatment for addition and concurrent diagnoses with full time clinical, medical and psychiatric staff.

Wage: 31.89 - 43.65 CAD Hourly

Position Summary:

While the primary function of the nursing staff is to provide medical care to persons who experience problems related to the use of mood-altering chemicals and/or behavior, providing compassion, empathy and understanding when necessary is an integral part of this position as well. Together, with our medical team, our nurses play an integral role in this rewarding role as we support and assist our clients in getting their lives back.

Successful applicants may be eligible for a $2500.00 signing bonus

Hours: Thursday 2:00pm-10:00pm, Friday 2:00pm -10:00pm , Saturday 3:00pm-11:00pm, Sunday 2:00pm- 10:00pm

Salary: $31.89-$43.65

Some duties include and are not limited to:

Provide first aid as needed and refer patients to medical care as the Clinical Team deems necessary
Responsible for patient Detox scales as per Pharmacotherapy & Detox policies.
Make patient medications available as prescribed as per Pharmacotherapy & Detox policies
Ensure medication policies and procedures are adhered to
Follow up with patients following assessments by Physicians - charting, booking of further appointments, etc., when necessary
Direct bedside care when necessary (i.e. bathing, Critical Care, etc.)
Participates in case consultation and treatment coordination with other members of the multi-disciplinary team if required

The ideal candidate will have:

Current LPN license is good standing
Trauma informed training/experience an asset;
Knowledge of mental health and addictions and the 12 steps an asset;
A passion and relentless pursuit for improving the life chances for all clients through support grounded in sound treatment practices;
Proven ability to work well as an integral part of a team which includes senior management, managers, supervisors, staff and outside agencies;
Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, communication, and problem solving skills;
The ability to be flexible, adaptable and nimble;
Commitment to professional development and growth;
Must be able to read, write and communicate verbally and in writing;
Must be able to understand and follow directions;
Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others;
Ability to fulfill the functional demands of the position;
Negative TB test;
Valid First Aid/CPR Level C;
Criminal record check through the Ministry of Justice;
Valid Class 5 Drivers License in good standing; and
Proof of COVID-19 Vaccine.
