HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours/week (July & August 2024) (weekdays, weekends and evenings)
SALARY: $23.91 per hour plus 12% in lieu of all benefits

The City has an exciting opportunity for an historic interpreter aboard the Samson V Maritime Museum. The Samson V Maritime Museum is an intact, floating steam powered sternwheeler located along the New Westminster Esplanade. As the tour guide on this vessel you will be greeting visitors and touring them through it, as well as monitoring museum exhibitions and performing general ship upkeep.

NOTE: This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program. In order to be considered for this opportunity, applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.

What you will do:

  • Interpretive tour and heritage program delivery
  • Museum facility opening and closing.
  • Oversee visitor safety and museum security
  • Assist with the research, development, testing and implementation of heritage programs and tours
  • Clean and maintain Samson V physical plant and exhibitions (i.e. painting, dusting, washing, etc.)
  • Maintain museum statistics and visitation data
  • Other duties as assigned
