The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali on Sunday evening had issued a “shoot-at-sight order” against anyone involved in arson attacks ahead of Monday’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) verdict against Sheikh Hasina and two others — former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun. The former Prime Minister is facing charges including crimes against humanity during the July uprising that was largely led by the students of the country.

The verdict is scheduled to be broadcast live from the courtroom of the International Crimes Tribunal-1, Bangladeshi media reports said. As the procedure is progressing, here are five updates from the capital city of Bangladesh that you want to know:

1. The Armed Police Battalion, Rapid Action Battalion, Border Guard Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Army have come up with a four-layer security blanket around the tribunal. According to reports, they have halted the movement of all types of vehicles along the road stretching from the High Court gate to Doyel Chattar.

2. Snipers have been deployed atop buildings, with mobile scanners and barricades being used to safeguard the approach to the ICT, a report said. Pedestrian movement has been restricted in the Suhrawardy Udyan area, Prothom Alo said in a report.

3. A country gun, pistol, and four crude bombs were recovered by the Army from the Ekota Express train at Dhaka’s Airport Railway Station on Monday morning. They were found concealed inside rice sacks during a search operation, and four individuals were detained from the spot for interrogation, the Dhaka Tribune said in a report.

4. Security checkposts have come up at all key entry points and intersections of Dhaka with public transport remaining almost suspended, according to some reports. The “shoot-at-sight” order was implemented in the backdrop of Dhaka witnessing nine arson incidents and repeated explosions in Mirpur, Hatirjheel, Agargaon, New Eskaton, and near the Airport railway station, the Dhaka Tribune said in a report.
