TikTok owner ByteDance is the top recruiter in China’s tech sector this year, while at the same time artificial intelligence-related job postings on the mainland have risen more than 500 per cent, according to a report by Maimai, China’s largest professional social networking platform.
ByteDance dominated tech hiring between January and October, with a hiring index of 897, ahead of Meituan at 587 and Alibaba Group Holding at 407, while AI related job listings surged 543 per cent, the report said, which did not provide actual figures. The index was calculated by the volume of new job postings divided by a fixed coefficient.
Smart hardware maker Dreame saw the fastest growth in new job listings, followed by iFlyTek and Amap. Meanwhile, job postings at Oppo, Transsion Holdings and DJI doubled.

The average monthly salary of AI-related jobs was 61,764 yuan (US$8,755), compared with the average pay of 45,553 yuan for the new-economy sector. Maimai defined the new-economy sector as industries that use technologies such as AI, big data and cloud computing to deliver products and services.
