Chinese automotive chip designer Black Sesame Technologies’ Huashan A2000 chip has passed reviews by US authorities, paving the way for its global roll-out.

Built on the advanced 7-nanometre process, which was ready for mass production in January 2025, was subject to US scrutiny “due to its ultra-high performance”, the company said in a post on its website on Monday.

“Following nearly a year of technical clarifications and communications”, the chip passed “relevant reviews” of the US Department of Commerce and Department of War, formerly known as the Defence Department, which have allowed Black Sesame to produce and sell the chip globally.
