Delroy Lindo‘s family isn’t feeling any blues about his 2026 Oscars nomination.

The Sinners actor revealed the sweet moment he shared with his and wife Nashormeh N.R. Lindo‘s son Damiri Lindo after he earned a Best Supporting Actor nod for his performance as blues musician Delta Slim in the 2025 vampire horror film. (For the complete list of 2026 Oscar nominees, click here.)

In fact, Delroy told E! News in an exclusive interview that Damiri—who is currently working in Europe—was the first one in their family to learn the exciting news.

“I was in bed,” he recalled. “My phone rang. It was my son. I picked it up and said, ‘Hey man,’ and he said, ‘Dad, dad, you got it. You got that s–t.'”

Emphasizing that his son was “very excited,” the 73-year-old went on to explain why it was a full-circle moment.

“It means the world because he’s seen it all,” Delroy said. “He’s seen it away from the red carpet. He’s seen both sides of it. So, along with my wife, they have the internal and the external perspective on this journey. It felt completely right on to receive this news from my son.”
