Spice Girls Then and Now: What Happened?

Spice Girls Then and Now: What Happened?

Posted on 16 March 2026 By jobuzo

In 1994, the world was forever changed when Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), Mel B (Scary Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) formed the Spice Girls and became one of the most famous girl groups of all time. Their debut single was “Wannabe,” released in 1996, putting them on the map and leading to other smash hits like “Spice Up Your Life.” Geri Halliwell left the band in 1998, and many of the other group members embraced their solo careers, leading to a hiatus in 2000. Twelve years later, they reunited on stage to perform together at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony in London. But what have they been up to since then? Let’s find out!

Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice)

Geri left the group in ’98 but rejoined the Spice Girls in 2007. Beyond music, she has designed a bikini line and worked as an onscreen judge for talent shows like “The X Factor” and “Australia’s Got Talent.” She has also written multiple autobiographies and children’s novels. In 2006, she gave birth to her daughter, and her Spice sisters, Emma and Victoria, were named the girl’s godmothers. In 2015, she married Christian Horner, with whom she has a son. In 2019, it shocked the world when Mel B claimed that they once had sex. Geri called the rumors “not true” and said they were “hurtful to her family.” She often shares tidbits from her personal life on Instagram and announced her new fiction book, “Rosie Frost: Ice on Fire.”

Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice)

Like many of the other Spice Girls, Victoria ventured into a solo music career before discovering her love for fashion design. She launched the now-famous Victoria Beckham line in 2008 and her beauty brand in 2019. Victoria also put out a documentary on Netflix chronicling the ups and downs of her career and the struggles her fashion brand faced. In 1999, she married David Beckham, and the couple has been together ever since. They have four kids together: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper. In 2022, her son Brooklyn married actor Nicola Peltz, which in recent years has culminated in an epic family feud that shows no signs of slowing down.

Mel B (Scary Spice)

After going solo, Mel B joined the slew of celebs popping up on reality shows; she competed on “Dancing With the Stars” as well as “The Masked Singer” before creating her own reality show called “Mel B: It’s a Scary World.” The singer was also a judge on “America’s Got Talent” and wrote a memoir titled “Brutally Honest.” She has a daughter with her ex Jimmy Gulzar, a daughter with her ex Eddie Murphy, and a daughter with her ex Stephen Belafonte. Her divorce from Belafonte was particularly intense, as she got a restraining order against a nanny whom she claims had an affair with him, and she has said the experience led to PTSD. Today, she has found love with her hairstylist, Rory McPhee, whom she recently married.

Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice)

Despite being one of the more low-key members of the Spice Girls, Melanie had the best solo career out of her bandmates and is still regarded as one of the most successful female artists in the U.K. In 2004, she founded her own label called Red Girl Records and then took on an acting role in the musical “Blood Brothers.” In 2021, she was announced as part of the “Dancing With the Stars” cast for Season 30. She released another album in 2022 and toured the U.K. In 2009, she had a daughter, Scarlet, with her ex Thomas Starr, and tried her hand at love again with Joe Marshall in 2015. Finally, it is reported that she has been in a relationship with Cassius Coleman, a longtime friend.

Emma Bunton (Baby Spice)

Emma did the same as her bandmates and pursued a solo career, and like her bandmates, she also appeared on several reality shows. She competed on “Strictly Come Dancing,” was a judge on “Dancing on Ice,” hosted “The Great American Baking Show,” and even made an appearance on the cult favorite show “Absolutely Fabulous.” Emma released a book for mothers in 2021 called “Mama You Got This.” She married her longtime partner, Jade Jones, in 2021, with whom she shares two sons. She did not attend Brooklyn Beckham’s wedding, but did not give a reason other than being unable to attend.
