In an accident that unfolded on the afternoon of June 8, a 27-year-old e-bike rider lost his life in a collision with a lorry at the busy intersection of Loyang Way and Loyang Lane.

The 41-year-old lorry driver has since been arrested.

The accident took place at 5.20pm in front of the Loyang Tua Pek Kong Temple.

According to eyewitnesses, an ambulance was seen transporting an injured individual. A while later, the police remained present, investigating the incident.

A stall owner at a nearby coffee shop shared that accidents like this were common in the area, but he was not working on Sunday and heard about the crash only the following morning.

“This area sees accidents every few months,” said the stall owner, Mr Xu. “There are many factories nearby, and large lorries pass through often. Many workers ride e-bikes, and some even speed or run red lights.”

A spokesperson from the lorry company, Mr Wu, confirmed that the company was aware of the accident. He also stated that the company would cooperate fully with the police investigation.

The police confirmed that the crash involved an e-bike and a lorry. The 27-year-old male riding the e-bike was unconscious when taken to hospital, where he later died.

The 41-year-old male lorry driver was arrested for driving without due care and consideration.
