NAIROBI, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — More than 200 Chinese companies are exhibiting at the eighth edition of the Kenya International Industrial Expo in Nairobi, the East African country’s capital, showcasing advanced manufactured products to potential clients.

Under the theme “Investing in Tomorrow-Trading for Prosperity,” the three-day trade fair, running through Saturday and convened by Afripeak Expo Kenya Ltd., Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), and Kenya Investment Authority, has drawn more than 6,000 visitors and trade delegates from across the globe.

One of the event’s key highlights was the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products and the KNCCI.

According to officials from both chambers, the MoU will promote Sino-Kenyan bilateral trade by facilitating knowledge sharing, two-way imports and exports, and joint research to achieve mutual outcomes.

Gao Wei, managing director of Afripeak Expo Kenya Ltd., said the exhibition will provide a platform for connecting Kenyan firms with their counterparts from China and other parts of the world, unlocking business deals and long-term partnerships.

“The Kenya International Industrial Expo is more than an exhibition; it is a platform for innovation, partnership, and industrial transformation,” Gao said.

He said greater engagement is expected as global exhibitors bring tailored solutions to meet Africa’s evolving industrial needs.

Since its inception, the expo has evolved into a premier platform for industrial networking, showcasing advanced technology and fostering trade linkages at a time when global supply chains are reeling from some disruptions.

At the expo, Chinese firms from various sectors, including manufacturing, construction, green energy, mining and transportation, are showcasing their modern equipment and technologies.

KNCCI President Erick Rutto said the expo will not just showcase products but also help shape Kenya’s industrial future, boosting economic competitiveness and job creation for the youth.

Pius Rotich, general manager of investment promotion and business development services at Kenya Investment Authority, said Kenya aims to leverage investments, technology, and know-how from China to spur green industrial growth, digitization, energy transition, and cross-border e-commerce. ■
