Trump's top team in Israel as ceasefire tensions persist after deadly strike

Trump’s top team in Israel as ceasefire tensions persist after deadly strike

Posted on 20 October 2025 By jobuzo

Israel’s military says its forces struck “terror infrastructure sites belonging to Hezbollah” in the Nabatieh area of southern Lebanon today.

It says the militant group is “attempting to re-establish terror infrastructure sites” across Lebanon.

This, it says, constitutes a “violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon”.

For context: Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group based in Lebanon, began attacking Israel with rockets and artillery in the aftermath of the October 7 massacre by Hamas and Israel’s military response in Gaza.

Israel retaliated by launching drone strikes and artillery shells at Hezbollah positions, and carried out airstrikes throughout Lebanon.

Israel intensified its attacks with two waves of electronic device attacks in September 2024 and later assassinated leading Hezbollah figures, including its chief Hassan Nasrallah.

A ground invasion of southern Lebanon followed, leading to the significant dismantling of Hezbollah’s military infrastructure in southern Lebanon.

Israel subsequently withdrew forces from its northern neighbour in February 2025.
