A trio in their 20s was arrested early on June 29 following a police chase where the suspects’ car collided with a lorry.
In response to queries, the police said its officers were patrolling along Syed Alwi Road towards Jalan Besar at about 5.45am when they spotted a car parked haphazardly there.
The driver, a 25-year-old man, fled when the officers checked on the car, and he was eventually subdued following a chase.
The man, who was wanted by the police for traffic-related offences, was conscious when taken to hospital. He was arrested for drug-related offences.
While the officers were making the arrest, a 25-year-old woman – a passenger of the car – drove the vehicle away, the police said.
Police later found the car in Syed Alwi Road. Upon sighting the police, the car sped away and collided with a lorry.
The police later found substances believed to be controlled drugs, and drug utensils in the car.
The woman – along with another passenger, a 23-year-old female – was arrested for suspected drug-related offences.

The trio’s suspected drug-related offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau, said the police, adding that investigations are ongoing.
