Zendaya<\/strong> entered a state of euphoria when she was cast in<\/span> The Odyssey<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

But before she took on the role of the Greek goddess Athena, she admitted she “kind of cheated a little bit” because her husband<\/span> Tom Holland<\/strong> had already been cast as Odysseus’ son Telemachus.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Tom had the script at home before I got the call,” Zendaya told<\/span> Justin Sylvester<\/strong> during the Live from E! Stream at<\/span> The Odyssey<\/span><\/em> premiere in New York City July 14. “So, I did a little peeky peek.”<\/span><\/p>\n

And the 29-year-old found director<\/span> Christopher Nolan<\/strong>’s adaptation of<\/span> Homer<\/strong>’s epic poem—also starring<\/span> Matt Damon<\/strong>,<\/span> Anne Hathaway<\/strong>,<\/span> Charlize Theron<\/strong> and<\/span> Lupita Nyong’o<\/strong> and hitting theaters July 17—to be “extraordinary” and “so moving.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“You would think a piece of literature like this is almost impossible to adapt,” she continued, “but if there’s anyone who can do it, it’s Mr. Nolan.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Before she was offered her role, Zendaya previously described how she and Tom—who<\/span> confirmed last month<\/span> that the pair had, indeed, tied the knot recently—reacted to his casting in the<\/span> Oppenheimer<\/span><\/em> director’s latest project. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
