A 46-year-old man was arrested for cheating after he allegedly scanned and voided grocery items worth over $500 at the self-checkout kiosk of a Woodlands supermarket.<\/p>\n

On July 16, the police said they received a call for assistance from a supermarket in Woodlands Street 82 for a case of suspected shop theft on March 21.<\/p>\n

The man was detained by a supermarket staff for allegedly scanning and voiding grocery items worth more than $34 at a self-checkout kiosk.<\/p>\n

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly scanned another barcode, which resulted in a final payment of $0.60.<\/p>\n

Further investigations showed that between Jan 2 and March 21, the man had made 26 similar transactions at the supermarket.<\/p>\n

He allegedly voided the items that were scanned at the self-checkout kiosk and left the store with them.<\/p>\n

The total value of the items voided by the man was more than $500.<\/p>\n

He is expected to be charged in court on July 17.<\/p>\n

If found guilty, he may be jailed for up to 10 years and fined.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
