A mother has taken to Facebook with a heartbreaking plea for justice for her daughter, claiming the 9-year-old has endured months of bullying in school<\/span> and that she herself has received harassing calls and death threats.<\/p>\n

“I never imagined that one day I would have to seek justice for my daughter in this way,” she wrote in a post published on Aug 14.<\/p>\n

She went on to detail alleged incidents of physical and verbal abuse, including vulgarities and racial slurs, as well as damage to her daughter’s belongings.<\/p>\n

Alleged bullying for nearly 6 months<\/h3>\n

The Primary 3 student – described by her mother as “bright and diligent” who had won government scholarships – reportedly came home in tears, saying: “Mummy, I don’t want to go to school anymore.”<\/p>\n

After coaxing, she revealed that three boys in her class had been bullying her for nearly six months.<\/p>\n

According to the mother, the abuse ranged from mocking and shoving to erasing homework and damaging her stationery. On one occasion, claimed the mother, her daughter was allegedly assaulted after asking a classmate to keep quiet in class.<\/p>\n

She claimed her daughter had reported the bullying several times but “received no protection” and was even seated next to the boys involved.<\/p>\n

When the mother contacted the parent of one of the boys, the form teacher allegedly called to tell her that both sides had been asked to apologise to each other.<\/p>\n

Mother harassed with unknown phone calls and death threats<\/h3>\n

Two days later, she and her husband filed a written complaint with the school.<\/p>\n

That same evening, she said she received multiple calls from unknown numbers.<\/p>\n

One caller allegedly identified her as the girl’s mother before sending voice messages containing death threats – which she claims came from one of the boys accused of bullying.<\/p>\n

“I might dissect her… I might dissect her into pieces like you,” a voice could be heard saying in one of the recordings she shared in her Facebook post.<\/p>\n

She saved all the phone numbers, audio recordings and screen captures and proceeded to the police station with her husband.<\/p>\n

The harassing calls reportedly continued even while they were giving their statements, she claimed. “The police documented all the details, reviewed the evidence, and advised us to call immediately if any physical attacks occurred.”<\/p>\n

The family also alerted the school, the Ministry of Education (MOE), and their Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

They met with the vice-principal, year head and form teacher on July 28, who assured them that the school would handle the situation and take appropriate measures.<\/p>\n

However, the mother said her daughter was reportedly targeted by the same boy again on Aug 1 and attacked three times on Aug 6 and 7. Teachers, she claimed, said they were “unaware” of the incidents and advised her daughter to report them herself.<\/p>\n

The girl has since been absent from school and is receiving professional psychological support. The parents have requested an immediate school transfer, disciplinary action, teacher accountability, and stronger anti-bullying measures.<\/p>\n

“The safety and dignity of students must be the school’s most fundamental responsibility,” she wrote.<\/p>\n

“I hope MOE will act swiftly to ensure that schools never again become a shelter for perpetrators.”<\/p>\n

School’s response<\/h3>\n

In response to queries from The New Paper, the school said the students who made the calls and threats were immediately suspended from class, and that it has engaged with the parents of three students regarding their actions.<\/p>\n

“Given the severity of the matter, the school will review and mete out further disciplinary consequences, which may include caning, after the police have completed their investigations,” it added. The students have also undergone counselling.<\/p>\n

The school said it has been supporting the affected student and engaging her parents since the incidents were first reported, and has put in place a safety plan.<\/p>\n

It also noted that its investigations found the affected student had “engaged in hurtful behaviours” as well, which will be addressed to help all involved “learn the values of respect and responsibility”.<\/p>\n

Police confirmed that a report has been lodged and investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n
