KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) — Malaysia marked the 68th anniversary of independence on Sunday, with national leaders joining a huge public turnout at the administration center of Putrajaya to witness a parade celebrating the National Day.<\/p>\n

Over 14,000 people were forming 81 contingents representing various segments of Malaysian society, according to the Malaysian national news agency Bernama.<\/p>\n

The country’s King, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, oversaw the parade, with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and cabinet members joining him. The country’s air force put on a show with fighter aircraft and various helicopters flying in formation and performing maneuvers. ■<\/span><\/p>\n
