Commuters at Raffles Place were met with water gushing from a dislodged panel in the station’s ceiling on the morning of Sept 17.<\/p>\n

A video sent to Stomp shows water pooling on the station platform, with barricades placed around the affected areas.<\/p>\n

The ground is also littered with newspapers.<\/p>\n

A post on the subreddit r\/singapore by user TheDoorDoesntWork at around 8am also included an image of the MRT platform<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The caption reads: “The poor MRT staff and cleaners were working hard to contain the situation. At least it seemed to be fresh water and the train worked fine.”<\/p>\n

The incident follows a slew of train breakdowns in the month of September, with the most recent reports being a two-hour delay on the Thomson-East Coast Line on Sept 17,<\/span> and disruptions on the East West Line between Aljunied and Tanah Merah on Sept 16<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Redditors lamented the increasing number of train-related incidents, with some claiming that the train system is “falling apart”.<\/p>\n

One complained: “Got affected by the TEL disruption and had to go to Raffles Place to get the EWL instead. Saw the water pouring from the ceiling and wondered if I somehow ended up in New York today.”<\/p>\n

In response to queries from The New Paper, SMRT said it is looking into the matter.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
