Job Description


The primary purpose of this role is to lead and manage an off-site Professional Staffing Services team of Laboratory Technicians to ensure that team is operating at the highest quality and productivity standards, have high morale and retention, and the agreed customer requirements are entirely satisfied and that customer expectations are met or exceeded through effective leadership and quality operational management. This person will be the key point of contact for the client on a day-to-day basis.

Job Responsibilities

  • Effectively coordinating and managing the PSS team so that productivity, quality, documentation, work schedules, safety and housekeeping is run at maximum efficiency.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the client gets the best possible service by continually reviewing best practice in relation to both commercial and quality issues and ensuring 100% ethical work standards and GMP compliance where required.
  • Responsible for the development, coaching, motivation, and morale of team members through effective teambuilding and use of reward and recognitions systems celebrating team success.
  • Responsible for reviewing and improving commercial work practices. Responsible for identifying areas where efficiencies may be improved and liaising with the client appropriately about any proposed improvements.
  • Responsible for forward planning of activities in order to maximise the use of client resources during training periods.
  • Responsible for ensuring that work is scheduled and cross training takes place so that the service levels agreed with the customer are achieved. Responsible for amending schedules as required.
  • Ensure that all technicians are trained and have completed training records for all tests and other training completed.
  • Responsible for carrying out performance appraisals with staff as part of the overall performance management programme within the organisation. Responsible for supporting cell culture and downstream purification projects including set-up of equipment and material preparation
  • Responsible for bioreactor preparation, media/feed/buffer make-ups, probe/equipment calibration and organization.
  • Responsible for building bioreactors and bioreactors assemble and complete bioreactor sampling
  • Responsible for sample submission in line with site guideline sand procedures
  • Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment by performing checks (i.e. calibrations, reagent replenishment) and organizing performance maintenance or services as required in conjunction with laboratory staff and project schedules.
  • Responsible for the completion of training records for the team, and ensuring that all records presented for review and approval are at the appropriate standard
  • Ensuring that clients requirements are fully met and be flexible to work in any area of the business as is required by the client

Qualifications
  • Diploma/Degree in relevant scientific discipline.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a laboratory environment.
