HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. AM fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.

We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced individual to join on as Solutions Stategist - Structuring. The role holder will support the Global Head of Trading and Solutions with the execution of a new world class leading Investment Solutions and Derivatives offering. This is an impactful role within an ambitious area of the business which aims to deliver AM’s commercial objectives

This position requires knowledge that enables the role holder to lead, find and adapt solutions that combine financial objectives with specific client knowledge. Experience in financial structuring combined with other clients’ needs (e.g. Solvency II, accounting etc.) is important.

In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to the development of Solutions by using their knowledge of OTC derivatives, structuring, vehicles/funds/SPV at the service of our client needs (including solvency, accounting, protection etc.).
  • Contribute to the strategic build out of a global Solutions offering leveraging knowledge of OTC derivatives, structured product, structuring, specific investment vehicles such as SPVs, notes, etc combined with regulatory, accounting experience.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for derivatives and contribute to the global derivatives offering.
  • Engage with counterparties and obtain the best possible contractual terms that meet the specific business needs.
  • Coordinate with Legal for contract management and Trading for execution
  • Manage brokers and optimise relationships to maximise / deliver internal and external client outcomes
  • Provide Structuring expertise in a range of areas, including Wealth (e.g. Structured fund), Insurance/pension balance sheet with regulatory/accounting/ALM considerations, seed hedging etc., with a material regional exposure to Asia
Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of derivatives, structured products and solutions. Experience in structuring for solutions will be desirable.
  • Prior experience within structuring
  • Experience of working with external clients
  • Strong design thinking, transformation and execution skills
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem solving and stakeholder management skills
  • Someone who is familiar with and comfortable taking ownership

This is a Hybrid working role with the base location as London. The successful candidate will have to have the ability to commute to this location.
