10 Sexiest Female Film and TV Characters of the ’80s

Posted on 27 July 2026 By jobuzo

The 1980s were the Wild West when it came to television and movie ideas. This era gave us talking cars, experimental helicopters, transforming superheroes, and hundreds of iconic characters to boot. Among them were, of course, plenty of unforgettable female characters.

Here are ten of the most remarkable female film and television characters who became ’80s screen crushes.

1. Daisy Duke — Catherine Bach (The Dukes of Hazzard)

Although The Dukes of Hazzard premiered in 1979, Daisy Duke became a full-blown pop culture phenomenon during the ’80s, mostly thanks to Catherine Bach and the Duke boys. Her famous cutoff denim shorts became so iconic that people still call the style “Daisy Dukes.” It just goes to show that men really don’t need much to start worshipping someone like Catherine.

2. Caitlin O’Shannessy — Jean Bruce Scott (Airwolf)

Airwolf had one of the coolest fictional helicopters ever put on television, but Jean Bruce Scott gave viewers a few other reasons to tune in. She played the badass pilot Caitlin O’Shannessy, who was also quite a catch. She could fly, think under pressure, and hold her own in a show packed with military hardware and dramatic aerial battles. She was a perfect ’80s crush!

3. Rachel Adams — Jeannie Wilson (Street Hawk)

Street Hawk lasted for only 13 episodes in 1985, but it gained a cult following thanks to its futuristic motorcycle and over-the-top premise. Of course, there was also Rachel Adams, played by Jeannie Wilson. Wilson’s spectacular screen presence made the character stand out, even when she wasn’t the one zooming through city streets on a superbike. It was a short-lived project, but Rachel certainly made an impression.

4. Jody Banks — Heather Thomas (The Fall Guy)

In The Fall Guy, Heather Thomas played Jody Banks, an attractive stuntwoman who worked with Colt Seavers. People loved seeing her perform dangerous stunts, conduct investigations, and go on bounty-hunting adventures. Thomas also had the classic blonde-bombshell look that the ’80s loved. Her posters were a hot commodity back then, and it is easy to see why.

Before Melrose Place turned her into one of the biggest stars of the ’90s, Heather Locklear played Officer Stacy Sheridan on T.J. Hooker alongside William Shatner. Locklear’s natural screen presence helped her stand out in a crowded police series without making the character feel out of place. She could handle the action and deliver the drama, which made her an icon of the ’80s.

6. Dale Arden — Melody Anderson (Flash Gordon)

Melody Anderson played Dale Arden in the wonderfully colorful 1980 sci-fi adventure Flash Gordon. Despite being surrounded by futuristic costumes and strange planets, she still managed to stand out with her pretty face and stunning figure. After Flash Gordon, Anderson starred as police detective Brooke McKenzie in another ’80s gem, the 1983 series Manimal, which cemented her place on this list.

7. Bonnie Barstow — Patricia McPherson (Knight Rider)

Michael Knight may have had the leather jacket, heroic poses, and a talking car named KITT, but without Bonnie Barstow, Knight Rider would not have been as iconic. Played by Patricia McPherson, Bonnie was the talented mechanic and engineer responsible for keeping the famous AI car in tip-top shape. McPherson’s performance and beauty made Bonnie one of the most likable characters on ’80s television.

Here is another crazy television-show idea: What if a police officer created a holographic crime fighter capable of stepping out of a computer and into the real world? Yeah, Automan slaps, and Heather McNair, who played Roxanne Caldwell, helped it achieve cult status. All those glowing suits, impossible vehicles, and computer effects that looked incredibly futuristic in 1983 also helped a bit.

9. Amy Allen — Melinda Culea (The A-Team)

Amy Allen, played by Melinda Culea, joined the classic series The A-Team to help the team with several of its earliest missions. Nicknamed “Triple A,” Amy was brave, persistent, and willing to jump into dangerous situations while chasing a story. Unfortunately, her character gradually became obsolete and disappeared during the second season. But even with limited screen time, Amy became a memorable part of the show’s early years and one of its most prominent female characters.

10. Sergeant Dee Dee McCall — Stepfanie Kramer (Hunter)

Stepfanie Kramer’s Sergeant Dee Dee McCall was more than just a pretty face. As a detective, she was tough, smart, and capable of busting criminals like it was nobody’s business. Dee Dee also had a quirky sense of humor and the kind of on-screen presence that helped challenge the way women were commonly portrayed in television crime dramas.
