2 dead after unknown shooter opens fire in Kyiv, mayor says

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Two people were killed Saturday when an unknown gunman opened fire in the streets of Kyiv, the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said.

A police operation to detain the shooter in the capital’s Holosiivskyi district is ongoing, Klitschko wrote on social media. He said that the assailant had since entered a supermarket.

The Ukrainian police force confirmed that an operation was taking place.
