As of 11:56 a.m., July 26, China’s summer box office exceeded 100 million yuan (around $14 million) in just half a day, according to data from online platforms.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the global fight against fascism.
The feature films “Dead to Rights” and “Dongji Rescue,” along with the documentary “Mountains and Rivers Bearing Witness,” have hit the big screen this summer. All three draw on real historical events and, from different perspectives, depict the Chinese people’s resistant struggle and highlight the enduring spirit of that era.
