Decapitated pig heads dumped in Muslim cemetery in Australia after Bondi Beach massacre

A day after the massacre of Jewish people celebrating Hanukkah at Australia’s Bondi Beach sent shock waves across the country, a report has emerged that a Muslim cemetery in Sydney has been vandalised with decapitated pig heads.

Footage uncovered on Monday showed a Muslim cemetery in the South-Western Sydney desecrated with pig heads and body parts, according to Sydney-based website News.Com.

A statement by Sydney Police said they were alerted about the animal remains at the  entrance to the cemetery around 6 am on Monday. “The officers attended and found  several pig heads at the scene. Police immediately commenced an investigation into the incident,” the statement read, adding that the pig heads have since been removed and disposed of appropriately.

This comes as Australian leaders appeal for calm.

The incident also caught the attention of prominent Muslim undertaker Ahmad Hraichie, who called the incident “senseless and hateful.”

‘To whoever did this: you have proven nothing except hatred. You are not a solution to any problem – you are part of the problem,’ he said. “This is pure stupidity. It achieves nothing. It only fuels anger, pain, and division. We do not need more people being revved up and amped up by cowardly actions like this,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sydney Muslim leaders have said they will not perform the funeral rites or receive the bodies of the Bondi shooters, allegedly Naveed Akram and his father, Sajid Akram.

According to Australian intelligence, the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation had opened a probe into Naveed Akram over his alleged connection to an ISIS-linked cell in Sydney. However, there had been no evidence at the time of an imminent threat. Naveed is said to have studied at the Al-Murad Islamic center in Sydney. However, the centre’s founder said he condemned the attack. Adam Ismail said Naveed attended Quran and Arabic classes in 2019, but added that he “unequivocally condemns this act of violence”.
