Elon Musk Says AI Will Take All Our Jobs, Including His

Elon Musk Says AI Will Take All Our Jobs, Including His

Posted on 8 August 2025 By jobuzo

It’s not the kind of reassurance people on edge about AI were hoping for. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and the world’s richest man, warned that no job is safe, not even his.

Musk just issued the warning on X (formerly Twitter), the social network he owns, in response to a post praising OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The original message described how a cancer survivor used ChatGPT to challenge doctors’ opinions, advocate for herself, and make better treatment decisions.

“This is bound to ruffle the medical industry and doctors’ feathers,” the user wrote, predicting “a battle incoming” between medicine and AI. The post added: “Doctors can be wrong, and AI can be useful and save lives. This isn’t a value judgment; it’s an observation of an incoming tension.”

For Musk, there’s no longer a debate to be had. AI will replace humans regardless of profession. “AI is already better than most doctors,” he commented. “That’s the honest truth.”

He continued: “And it will become far better. Same for all jobs tbh, including mine.”

AI is already better than most doctors. That’s the honest truth.

And it will become far better.

Same for all jobs tbh, including mine.

A Rare Admission in Silicon Valley

Musk is one of the few major tech CEOs to publicly acknowledge that his own role could be automated. While AI’s impact on blue-collar and white-collar jobs has dominated the conversation, few leaders have turned the spotlight on themselves, especially those cutting jobs in the name of AI efficiency.

His admission immediately sparked a wave of reactions on social media. “I can’t even imagine anyone being better than Elon at how to do their job,” one user wrote. “The AI future will be amazing!! Everyone gets access to Elon in real time!!”

“When you are replaced by AI, I will be recruiting you hard for Eden 2.0. You have done so much for humanity. You deserve peace next and so much love,” another user commented.

Some, however, were unsettled: “So, is there a solution? Or will all of us get paid to do nothing while AI does all the heavy lifting for us?” one asked.

Musk didn’t answer.

So, is there a solution? Or will all of us get paid to do nothing while AI does all the heavy lifting for us?

The Bigger Jobs Picture

Other high-profile investors, such as Mark Cuban, are telling people to prepare rather than panic, by reskilling for AI-related work and developing soft skills that machines can’t easily replicate. They argue there will still be demand for people to program, train, and manage AI systems, as well as to teach others how to use them.

The scale of the disruption is already coming into focus. According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs 2025 report, 41% of employers globally plan to downsize due to AI, with that figure climbing to 48% in the U.S. At the same time, 77% expect to upskill current staff to work alongside AI, and 47% are preparing to transition workers from shrinking roles into new positions.

OpenAI’s GPT-5 Raises the Bar

News :Migrant acquitted in first trial over US border military zones

Musk’s comments arrived the same day OpenAI rolled out GPT-5, the latest version of its wildly popular AI chatbot that demonstrates, according to the company, a significant leap into the domain of highly skilled professionals. The company says GPT-5 acts as “more an active thought partner,” capable of proactively flagging potential concerns, asking clarifying questions, and delivering more precise, context-aware answers. OpenAI is pitching GPT-5 as safer and more reliable across a wide range of scenarios, with a particular focus on health.

Musk is not just an observer; he’s a key architect of this future. His company, xAI, founded two years ago, develops advanced AI tools, including the powerful but controversial Grok chatbot. While Grok has been criticized for spreading conspiracy theories and false facts, its latest version, SuperGrok, is considered by experts to be one of the most capable AI models available.

Our Take

The launch of models like GPT-5 makes Musk’s prophecy feel less like a distant sci-fi concept and more like an impending reality. The stakes are enormous. As AI systems become more capable, they are set to reshape not just labor markets but the very definition of work. If even Musk believes his role can be automated, it forces a more uncomfortable question: what happens to everyone else?
