Elon Musk Teases ‘Fireworks’ as Trump Signs His ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’

Posted on 4 July 2025 By jobuzo

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, spent the Fourth of July doing what he does best: stirring speculation, igniting controversy, and hinting at big political moves. All from behind a keyboard.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO kicked off America’s Independence Day with a patriotic post on his platform X (formerly Twitter): “🇺🇸🇺🇸 Happy birthday, America! 🇺🇸🇺🇸”

But it was his follow-up that really set off alarms: “Great day for some… fireworks 🔥🔥”

Was Musk referring to literal fireworks? Or was this a cryptic signal that political fireworks were about to explode?

The timing was no coincidence. On July 3, Congress passed President Donald Trump’s signature legislation, the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping package that includes massive spending cuts, the end of clean energy subsidies, and controversial changes to social safety net programs. Trump signed the bill into law on July 4.

Musk has already come out strongly against the legislation. On June 30, he threatened to form a new political force if it became law:

“If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day,” Musk posted. “Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.”

Now that the bill has passed, Musk seems to be following through, at least online.

Musk’s Independence Day Poll

On July 4, Musk escalated things further with a pointed new poll: “Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system! Should we create the America Party?” he asked. X users were given two options: “Yes” or “No.” As of this writing, nearly 400,000 people had voted, and the post had over 3.6 million views. The poll is set to close on July 5.

Musk has a track record of using Twitter polls to shape major decisions. In November 2022, he polled users about reinstating Donald Trump’s banned Twitter account. After 15 million votes, with 52% in favor, Musk reactivated the former president’s profile.

In 2021, he asked followers whether he should sell 10% of his Tesla stock to pay taxes. After 58% voted yes, he sold $5 billion worth of shares.
So when Musk hints that a poll might shape a real-world action, people pay attention.

A Strategy or a Stunt?

Musk even outlined how a third-party insurgency could realistically work.

“One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just two or three Senate seats and eight to ten House districts,” he wrote. “Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people.”

This strategic idea taps into growing voter frustration with both major parties. A 2024 Gallup poll found that 43% of Americans now identify as independents, the largest political bloc in the country. Still, it’s unclear whether Musk’s America Party is a real plan or just political theater.

He has previously flirted with high-profile political moves only to back away. But this time, with Trump back in power, a bill he despises becoming law, and increasing pressure on big tech and clean energy companies like Tesla, Musk may be more serious than ever.

Whether this is the beginning of a Musk-led political movement, or just another cryptic July 4 performance, the billionaire has once again positioned himself at the center of America’s most combustible conversations.

The cryptic message sparked a flurry of speculation on X, with some users wondering if it hinted at the formation of a political party or something entirely different. “If Elon Musk formed an America party, would you support him?” one X user commented.

Amidst the serious inquiries, humor also surfaced. “I just can’t…. I don’t want to know,” one account joked, while another quipped, “you blowing up another rocket?” in a nod to SpaceX, the billionaire’s rocket company.

you blowing up another rocket?
