FACT CHECK: Will Charlie Kirk’s name, image appear on US currency?

Amid the bid to mourn the ‘legacy’ of Charlie Kirk by renaming a road in Florida as Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway, reports emerged about alleged conservative efforts to print a new US currency with Kirk’s image on it.

Two Republican lawmakers told Fox News Digital that they plan to introduce legislation to honor Kirk by printing his image and name on nearly half a million new silver dollar coins. The legislation will seek the US Treasury to print 400,000 silver dollar coins with Kirk’s face on them, Republican Representatives August Pfluger of Texas and Abraham Hamadeh of Arizona told Fox News. Besides Kirk’s face, the coins would include the message, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” imprinted on it. They would be minted with the year 2026 and his full name, “Charles James Kirk,” on them, they added.

Pfluger described Kirk as a “conservative titan” in his email to Newsweek, adding that the coin would make Charlie the youngest American ever immortalized on legal U.S. currency. “This is a fitting honor that cements his extraordinary legacy alongside presidents and founding fathers who shaped our republic,” Pfluger added.

Pfluger added that the coins’ final design would be selected by the Treasury Secretary in consultation with President Donald Trump.

The currency bill will move through the usual legislative process to get it passed. As per the US law, the image of a living person cannot be used on U.S. currency.

If passed, Kirk would be passed among several historical figures, including Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, former U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Marshall, and Susan B. Anthony, among others.

This is besides the efforts by GOP lawmakers to offer legislation to award Kirk congressional medals and honor him with a day of remembrance.
