A woman with a “crazy idea” to get back at her fiance who cheated on her with a bar girl while on holiday in Batam has been advised by netizens to simply leave the man.
Her idea: meeting the woman in Batam and telling her the fiance has Aids.
“When he came back to Singapore, he acted like Batam was a boring place and didn’t get why people even go there. Now I realise he probably just didn’t want me to get curious and find out about the girl he paid for services in Batam,” says the woman in a Reddit post.
She added in a reply to a comment that she found out when she saw some messages on his phone after he refused to let her use it after his return from the trip.
At press time, her post had been upvoted 309 times and received 177 comments.
‘You should be angry at your partner, not the woman’
Redditors, both male and female, sympathised with her, with many suggesting she leave him and not get the other woman involved in her revenge plot.
“I am sorry that happened to you. Not going to judge you. That woman had no qualms about how her ‘business’ was ruining families; you do not owe her any goodwill. However, doing so may land you in legal troubles beyond your capabilities. I’d advise you to get the law on your side, keep your wits about you, and discuss your situation with an experienced divorce lawyer,” said one Redditor.
“You should be angry at your partner, not the woman lol. Cheaters will cheat, you can’t really try to understand their mentality. You just have to admit you misjudged his loyalty,” said another.
The woman clarified that her intention is not to get back at the bar gir, but to “damage his reputation”, to which one Redditor responded: “Unfortunately, I don’t think anyone in that bar will care if he has HIV.”
‘Just leave him lah’
Others said the best revenge for her would be to leave him and live her best life. “Just leave him la. Don’t waste time plotting revenge. The best way to get back is to rise above the situation and improve yourself. Take time to grieve the relationship and what it meant for you, but don’t lower yourself to his standards,” said one.
Another suggested telling her would-be in-laws. “I’m so sorry about this, if you truly want to take revenge, I’d tell his mom lol You don’t always have to take the high road if it means getting a little piece of yourself back. Beyond that, leave him, get tested too, just in case,” said the user.
Some felt the story was one-sided.
“Ok so we’ve heard your side of the story. What’s his side of the story? A lot of replies here are asking you to leave / divorce / exit. Before you do that, think carefully how it ended up like that….Walking out is always the obvious and easier path when you are angry and resentful,” said one netizen.
