We’ve now just heard from Joshua Schiffer, a former defence lawyer for many of Jeffrey Epstein’s accusers, who said this latest drop “is a little bit of a taste” of what’s to come tomorrow.
(Reminder – tomorrow is the US government’s deadline for the full release of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.)
“We’ve just been drip and dropped a little bit of information here and there,” he told our chief presenter Mark Austin.
Schiffer added that “we’ve got some really highfalutin, prominent members of our society”, including Bill Gates – “one of the world’s richest men”.
When asked why Donald Trump may have been reluctant to release the files, Schiffer said, “that’s just basic human nature”.
“We all have associations in our past that we may be less proud of than at the time,” he said.
For context: Gates has admitted that Epstein joined him for “several dinners”, telling CNN in 2021 that he had been hoping Epstein’s contacts could help him raise money for global health causes.
“It was a huge mistake to spend time with him, to give him the credibility of being there,” Gates said.
He did not give any timeframe for the meetings, although US media have said they were between 2011 and 2014.
Pictures do not show him involved in any wrongdoing.
