Fears have reignited after paranormal investigator and tour guide Dan Rivera passed away suddenly after bringing the “Annabelle” doll to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He brought the doll as part of his paranormal tour series called “Devils on the Run.”
News of his death was posted by the New England Society for Psychic Research NESPR. Dan Rivera, 54, the lead investigator for NESPR, had collapsed in his hotel during the tour. On Sunday night, medics rushed in to give him CPR, according to the Adams County dispatch records in Pennsylvania. His exact cause of death has not been confirmed, according to the Evening Sun.
The Devils on the Run tour was hosted by the Ghostly Images of Gettysburg, who made a statement that read “Ghostly Images of Gettysburg was honoured to host the nationally renowned ‘Devils on the Run’ tour this past weekend, featuring a legendary artefact and prestigious investigators from the New England Society for Psychic Research. During their visit, the team experienced a profound loss with the unexpected passing of Dan Rivera, NESPR’s lead investigator. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations.”
The doll was showcased outside of its seal on the tour.
The Raggedy Ann doll, infamously known as Annabelle, was made popular by the Conjuring films. The real doll was tied to uncanny incidents in the 1970s, prompting beliefs that it was “demonically possessed”.
According to research from the NESPR, the doll was gifted to a student nurse and was brought home to where she lived with her room-mate. The two noticed strange occurrences with the doll, which made them believe that the doll was inhabited by the spirit of a young girl called Annabelle. According to the organisation, Ed and Lorraine Warren were called in and they removed the doll from the home and stored it in their museum in a sealed glass case.
In May, rumours spread that the doll was removed from its sealed glass case from the Warren Occult Museum, sparking discussions and warnings online from netizens. The claims were debunked by Rivera who showed that the doll was kept sealed in the glass case.
