A pigeon apparently flew into a coffeeshop, struck a ceiling fan and died before landing on a table, Shin Min Daily News reported.

The incident took place at a coffeeshop at Block 848 Yishun Street 31, at around 12pm on Aug 31.

Pigeon lands next to plate of fish and rice

Videos circulating online show the fowl lying motionless on a coffeeshop table, next to a plate of steamed fish and rice.

An eyewitness who only wished to be known as Mr Liu, 36, told Shin Min that he and his wife were dining at the next table when he suddenly heard a crash and saw the pigeon fall onto the table.

“It was really scary,” he said.

He added that the pigeon appeared to have died instantly. The woman and her son who had been dining at the table later discarded their food, fearing it might have been contaminated.

Mr Liu, a regular at the coffeeshop, said this was the first time he had encountered such an incident.

A reporter observed three or four pigeons near the coffeeshop, though they did not disturb diners.
