Russia continued its aerial attacks on Ukraine last night, striking communities far from the front line with drones and missiles.

In Chernivtsi, the head of the region’s military administration said two people were killed as a result of the strikes.

A total of 14 people were injured in the region, including four people who remain in serious condition, Ruslan Zaparnyuk added.

He said several residential buildings, shops, administrative buildings and vehicles were also damaged in the city.

In Lviv, officials said four people were injured following attacks in the city, which sits around 45 miles from the Polish border.

Poland’s air force said on X that the country scrambled fighter jets to protect its airspace amid the attack.

“Duty fighter pairs have been scrambled, and ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest state of readiness,” it said.

There were also more strikes on Kharkiv, where a previous attack only yesterday damaged a maternity hospital, as well as in the capital city Kyiv.

We’ll bring you more updates from across Ukraine and the extent of Russia’s overnight attack as we get it.
