Emmanuel Macron said he would travel to London on Monday to meet Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Sir Keir Starmer and Germany’s Friedrich Merz for talks on Ukraine.
The French president said the leaders were convening at Downing Street “to take stock together of the situation and the ongoing negotiations within the framework of the American mediation”.
“Ukraine can count on our unwavering support,” he said on X.
“That is the
whole point of the efforts we have undertaken as part of the ‘coalition of the willing’.
“We will continue these efforts alongside the Americans to
provide Ukraine with security guarantees, without which there
can be no robust and lasting peace. For what is at stake in
Ukraine is also the security of Europe as a whole.”
Macron also condemned Russia’s massive overnight aerial attack on Ukraine, targeting the country’s energy and transport infrastructure.
