Tony Blair will be among the members of a newly created administration body that is supposed to oversee Gaza’s post-war transition, the White House announced.
Dubbed the founding Executive Board, the body will be attached to the overarching Board of Peace and will “operationalize” its vision, the statement said.
The Board of Peace is due to be headed by Donald Trump and may include the likes of Keir Starmer, according to reports, as part of the second phase of Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan.
According to the White House, the founding Executive Board will include the following members alongside Blair:
- Marco Rubio, the US secretary of state
- Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East
- Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, who negotiated the peace plan
- Marc Rowan, a billionaire and CEO of Apollo Global Management
- Ajay Banga, the president of the World Bank
- Robert Gabriel, Trump’s assistant for policy
Members to oversee key governance portfolios
The statement also said that each Executive Board member will oversee a defined portfolio “critical to Gaza’s stabilization and long-term success”, including areas such as regional relations and capital mobilisation.
Moreover, the statement announces the formation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), which will oversee “the restoration of core public services, the rebuilding of civil institutions, and the stabilization of daily life in Gaza”.
It’s to be led by Ali Shaath, a Palestinian official.
The NCAG‘s work will be supported by the Gaza Executive Board, which includes Witkoff, Kushner, Blair, Rowan as well as Turkey’s foreign minister Hakan Fidan, Egyptian intelligence officer Hassan Rashad, Qatari diplomat Ali Al Thawadi, Cypriot businessman Yakir Gabay and UN official Sigrid Kaag.
It will also include Nickolay Mladenov, a Bulgarian diplomat, who will serve as High Representative for Gaza. He will link the work of the Board of Peace to the NCAG.
