VIDEO | Anti-immigration protester in London stops to buy onion bhaji, netizens point out irony

A viral video on X showed anti-immigration protesters in London making a quick stop to grab onion bhajis at a stall. The video has garnered close to 10 million views on the app.

More than 100,000 people showed up to march at the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ march organised by right-wing activist Tommy Robinson on Saturday. Protesters chanted slogans against Kier Starmer and demanded “we want our country back”

One user said sarcastically, “Can I have one of your curries, before I throw you out of the country?!”

Many users who supported the protest said that the protesters didn’t mind legal tax-paying immigrants and claimed that the protesters were not racist.

One user said, “There is nothing wrong with experiencing other people’s cultures and food. The problem is when other people try to disregard and force assimilation into their culture when they are the immigrant or illegal immigrant. I find it fantastic to appreciate other people and their history.”

The London Metropolitan Police said that up to 150,000 people attended the Saturday march, making it one of the biggest right-wing marches in recent years. The far-right protests were organised by Tommy Robinson. The Met Police said that the protests eventually turned violent after a counter-protest ‘ stand up to racism with about 5000 people showed up.

Officers reported aggression in multiple locations as they tried to create a route to help the counter-protesters exit.

Robinson called the event a “force of patriotism never seen before.”
