Vitality wins an epic as Hong Kong’s biggest Esports event wows packed crowd

Hong Kong Esports fans were treated to an incredible spectacle as Team Vitality edged past Spirit 2-1 in a remarkable quarter-final at BLAST Premier Hong Kong Rivals at AsiaWorld-Arena on Friday.

Two of the world’s best Counter-Strike teams served up topsy-turvy series in front of a raucous crowd for the biggest Esport event to date, with Spirit winning the opening map of Dust2, their map pick, in a nail-biting 13-11 fashion.

With the score at 12-9 in Vitality’s favour on the second map of Nuke and just one Spirit player alive against five of Vitality’s, it looked like we were heading straight to a decider.

Unfortunately for Vitality, the remaining Spirit player was the world’s best, Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, who managed to win the one versus five, sending the AsiaWorld-Arena into raptures. The map went to overtime, but Vitality did ultimately close it out 19-16.

The decider was another barn-burning map that fittingly went into overtime, where the world’s best team, Vitality, managed to scramble over the line 16-13 and set up a semi-final versus Falcons.

Brazilian squad paiN also charged their way into the semi-finals after a comprehensive 2-0 victory over international mix Passion UA.
