In yet another Dhurandhar moment, unidentified gunmen fatally shot Pulwama attack mastermind Hamza Burhan in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Burhan sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the attack. He was named in the NIA chargesheet on the Pulwama attack conspiracy. More than 40 CRPF personnel were killed in the attack. He as designate a terorist by the Union Home Ministry in 2022.

Who was Hamza Burhan?

Hamza Burhan alias Arhamand Gulzar was known by the nickname The Doctor as he held an MBBS degree. He was a commander of Al-Badr, a Pakistan-backed terror group. He was the mastermind behind the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.

Originally a native of Kharbatpora in Pulwama, Burhan crossed the border in 2017 for higher studies. Later, he became part of Al-Badr and was promoted to the post of commander.

Burhan was sent back to Kashmir to radicalise youth in Pulwama and Shopian and spread anti-India propaganda. He was involved in supplying explosive and grenades to terrorists who carried out the 2019 Pulwama attack as well as another attack on a CRPF bunker in November 2020.

This is the latest eliminations of Pakistan-linked terrorists by unidentified gunmen. On April 27, LeT commander Sheikh Yusuf Afridi, a close aide of 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed was shot dead in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while on April 16, LeT co-founder Amir Hamza was shot dead in Lahore.
