Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, after knocking on the door of the American record in the women’s 400 meters, crossed it off her list at the World Athletics Championships on Tuesday night.
Next up is a chance at a gold medal in an event she is still relatively new to — and possibly a shot at the world record.
McLaughlin-Levrone, who won Olympic titles in the 400-meter hurdles in Tokyo and Paris, continued her impressive and bold switch to the 400 flat by qualifying for the world final in a blazing time of 48.29 seconds in her semifinal heat at Tokyo’s National Stadium. She will race in the final on Thursday.
